Herman is Chief Executive Officer of Telecommunications Dispute Resolution Limited, the consumer dispute resolution body for telecommunications sector in New Zealand. He has previously held executive leadership positions in the financial services and professional regulation sectors. This has included roles as Company Secretary and General Counsel at TSB Bank and General Counsel at the Real Estate Authority, as well as non-legal roles in the areas of compliance, regulatory affairs, and as Chief of Staff to the CEO.
As a governor Herman both serves on Boards and provides governance advisory services in the areas of effective board engagement, strategy, and risk management. He currently serves as Chair of ActionStation Aotearoa and is on the Board of the Mentoring Foundation, with previous roles including the Independent Chair of the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee for the New Zealand Law Society. Recent advisory work has included engagements with the Asia-Pacific Refugee Rights Network, Quayside Holdings Limited, and the New Zealand Law Society, He is a member of the Wellington Council for the IoD and has presented a number of educational sessions for the IoD in this capacity.
