Our role
As Legal Counsel you’ll provide both proactive and reactive legal services, to minimise legal and regulatory risk and increase the potential for profitable operations in a commercial environment. You’ll provide high quality legal advice to the business on a broad range of insurance, compliance, regulatory and commercial law issues. You’ll also work with a range of stakeholders and will provide support to our Associate General Counsels.
Alongside this, you’ll play a key part in maintaining our documents and processes to support effective legal risk management, while assisting the business to understand and respond to legal issues.
This role is wide and varied and you’ll have the opportunity to learn from our highly experienced legal team while also making your own mark.
Our ideal candidate
While insurance/financial sector experience is highly desirable, we’ll be there to support you to give you every chance of success! You’ll need a current practising certificate from the NZ Law Society and 1-3 years post qualifying experience. Working knowledge of relevant insurance and financial services legislation will support you to be successful in this role. You’ll have strong communication and analytical skills, good commercial acumen and will be confident providing substantive legal advice to key stakeholders.
Team fit is equally as important to us. Someone who is pragmatic with a collaborative approach, has a great attitude and interpersonal skills will do well. Having the ability to identify an approach that meets all stakeholders’ needs is a must, as is the ability to plan effectively and be decisive.
