About the role

Metlifecare seek a commercially savvy General Counsel to join them on their journey. Reporting to the CFO, this senior leadership role will lead a number of direct reports and provide sound counsel to the Board of Directors, Chairman, CEO and other members of the ELT.

As the chief legal officer and governance specialist you will support the business in all aspects of general legal, regulatory, corporate governance, risk management and due diligence. Your commercially astute, pragmatic and relationship based approach will ensure you add maximum value in this pivotal role.

Based in Metlifecare’s Newmarket Head Office, this role is offered as a full-time role with WFH and flexi hours.

What we’re looking for

· LLB qualified, admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the New Zealand High Court, eligible to hold current legal practising certificate

· Upwards of 10 years’ sound relevant experience in commercial contracts, corporate legal work, M&A, and company secretary experience

· Exposure to litigation management, IP and consumer law experience is desirable. Prior inhouse experience is essential

· Sound people leadership and astute stakeholder management experience
