About the role
Mercury is seeking a driven Legal and Commercial Advisor - Governance, Privacy and Risk to join their collaborative team based in Auckland. This role will help to deliver critical legal services and leadership across the governance, privacy, and risk functions. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of Mercury’s legal operations, supporting corporate governance, managing the privacy function, and helping shape a proactive, risk-based legal culture.

This role is offered as a full-time permanent position with flexibility.
What we’re looking for
- A skilled lawyer with 3 -7 years’ legal experience (private practice or in-house) and a current NZ legal practising certificate
- Exposure to energy, infrastructure, or utilities sectors is an advantage
- Previous governance and privacy experience preferred
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
- Pragmatic and motivated person who enjoys solving challenges in a fast-paced organisation
