About the role
Mercury is seeking a Legal and Commercial Advisor – Projects to join their collaborative team based in Auckland. You will provide proactive, strategic legal and commercial guidance to support Mercury Group companies. While this role focuses primarily on the generation development and generation businesses, it also collaborates across the wider Mercury Group to deliver high-quality service in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
You’ll report to and work closely with the General Counsel and Company Secretary, contributing to a legal function that’s innovative, risk-aware, and performance-driven. Become part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team where your expertise as a legal advisor is genuinely appreciated.
This role is offered as a full-time permanent position with flexibility. This is your opportunity to step into your ideal in-house role.
What we’re looking for
- A skilled lawyer with 3 -7 years’ legal experience (private practice or in-house) and a current NZ legal practising certificate
- Exposure to energy, infrastructure, or utilities sectors is an advantage
- Property and construction law experience is very desirable
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
- A self-aware, adaptable mindset with a genuine appetite for learning and innovation
- Integrity, energy, and enthusiasm
