About the role

Created in Christchurch, Seequent is an award winning NZ tech success story and a global leader in the geoscience software arena. Acquired by Bentley Systems (:BSY) last year, Seequent needs a talented Legal Counsel to join them on their journey.

Reporting to a highly skilled General Counsel with global cross sector experience, and supported by your Senior Legal Counsel colleagues, you will be part of a team that is at the forefront of the Seequent business, providing critical legal advice across all aspects of the organisation. You will provide sound commercial advice, manage relationships with corporate partners, global distributors, and ensure Seequent’s goals are well supported and risks well managed. You will provide timely and accurate advice on IP, product development and technology matters, service agreements and corporate transactions.

Work from almost anywhere – this team is local to NZ, with a completely global focus, skilled in remote working across every time zone with cohesion, collaboration, and support. Parttime, hybrid or anywhere working solutions are available – you choose!

What we’re looking for

· A commercially savvy lawyer with 2 - 12 years’ experience

· Strong core of corporate law and commercial contracts experience, complemented by a versatile legal skillset and relevant industry experience

· Relevant experience in commercial contracting, software/SAAS agreements, IP and trademark advice, privacy and data protection and corporate transactions

· Prior inhouse experience preferred but not essential

· Strong business acumen, legal knowledge and initiative.

· Someone who wants to work in a highly diverse global business with an empowering culture.
