About the role

Here is a unique role for a sole legal counsel to join the Harcourts team.

Responsible for the provision of proactive expert legal advice and support for the Harcourts Group in New Zealand, you will work closely with business leaders to provide proactive commercial astute legal advice and support to Harcourts New Zealand ensuring all risks are minimised and rights maximised.

Reporting to an Australian based General Counsel you will work closely with the NZ ELT and SLT members and other key stakeholders. Your role will be varied and will encompass a range of commercial and property related matters including responsibility for all aspects of Harcourts’ franchise network and associated compliance issues. Well supported by the wider legal team and external counsel, this is a well-resourced legal counsel role enabling you to build your skill set further as a skilled legal counsel – in short it is potential plus!

Your strong communication and negotiation skills, energy and genuine interest in the property industry will be welcome. Your ability to think on your feet, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and build relationships of trust and confidence will be an asset as the business continues to grow and develop.

What we’re looking for

· A NZ qualified commercial contracts and/or property lawyer with at least 3-6 years’ experience and a current practicing certificate

· Experience in a broad range of franchising, general compliance, and commercial transactional matters

· Previous inhouse experience preferred but not essential

· Specific experience in franchising compliance documentation and related legal matters ideal
