Qualified and experienced Legal Counsel opportunity to join our collaborative Corporate Office team in Wellington

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Legal Counsel to work here at Intergen. Ideally based in our Wellington CBD offices (with the ability to work remotely), the position will work in collaboration with a small team as part of the Corporate Office. You will be involved in an array of legal work, with a key focus on reviewing, advising on, and negotiating contracts with clients and suppliers. You will work closely with the business in understanding and minimising risk. Experience with reviewing and negotiating IT contracts is an essential attribute and in-house experience is particularly valued. The role will also undertake ad-hoc legal work and some compliance matters.
This role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel and is offered on a permanent basis either full-time or part-time (to be discussed).
What you'll need to be successful for the role:
· Qualified lawyer with practicing certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
· 5 years+ legal experience with a strong focus on commercial work
· Recent experience in reviewing and negotiating IT contracts
· Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and the Intergen and Empired Executive to achieve required outcomes
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills, problem solving and high attention to detail
· Ability to work with initiative as well as being an effective team member
· Flexibility and the ability to quickly acquire and apply new skills
What you will be doing in the role:
· High level, extensive consultation with both external and internal customer representatives as well as Intergen’s partners and suppliers to arrive at successfully negotiated contractual outcomes
· Advising on legal and contractual compliance matters
· Engage with pre-sales/commercial solutions teams to ensure that tender responses and negotiation occurs within relevant timeframes.
· Dealing with various ad-hoc legal matters which could include input on property matters, employment law matters, company secretarial and privacy matters and briefing external Counsel where required
