About the role
Southern Cross Healthcare is New Zealand’s largest network of private healthcare services, and the country’s only national network of private hospitals and health service facilities. They seek a dedicated Legal Counsel to join their successful legal team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Legal Counsel who wants to enjoy a varied role, quality work and all the benefits of being a key member of this high performing legal team. This role would suit a commercial lawyer seeking their first in-house role or a current in-house legal counsel seeking advancement.
Working closely with the General Counsel and other senior legal counsel, as part of a cohesive and collaborative legal team, you will work together to provide proactive, timely and commercial legal advice and services to all Southern Cross businesses. You will act as trusted business partner, working with the business to deliver the Healthcare’s strategic and commercial objectives and to manage risk within Board approved frameworks.
What we’re looking for:
- A lawyer with 3 - 7 years’ top quality post-admission experience who holds or is entitled to hold a current NZ legal practising certificate. Experience within a law firm or large-scale organisation preferred
- Experience in corporate, commercial and/or property law
- Understanding of large commercial mutual/co-operative structure an advantage
- Knowledge of regulatory, privacy, consumer, intellectual property, competition, commercial, employment and contract law advantageous
- Strong attention to detail, results-focused, with a positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain and simplify complexity
