Experienced solicitor looking for a varied and hands-on in-house role, where the work you do provides real outcomes for the Bay of Plenty region?

 

Who are we?

Based in Tauranga, Quayside is an investment fund valued at $2.8b.  Owned by Bay of Plenty Regional Council (BOPRC), we hold and manage assets for the communities of the Bay of Plenty. We are Invested in our future - Mauri Ora Roa.

 

Quayside’s purpose is to grow a responsible and diversified fund that generates long term returns to support the growth and prosperity of the Bay of Plenty. Our assets include a majority shareholding in the Port of Tauranga, a global listed equity portfolio, private equity investments, commercial property and land development including the Rangiuru Business Park.

 

This is an exciting time for us as we look to execute on a recently refined strategy with a focus on commercial and social outcomes, including responsible investment.

 

The role

Our Solicitor role is pivotal to ensuring we manage legal risk and execute our regulatory and governance responsibilities to a high standard. You will be an experienced self-starter with 2 to 4 years legal experience gained in commercial or property law. This role reports to the Legal and Risk Manager, in a small legal team of two – so plenty of scope to get involved!

 

What will you be doing?

  • Providing solution focused legal advice on a wide range of commercial transactions, company and local government law, NZX obligations, procurement and more
  • Supporting our investment and property teams with investment and divestment transactions
  • Company Secretary for group subsidiaries – property development and holding companies
  • Manage external legal engagements
  • Policy review and drafting
  • Helping to grow the maturity of our legal, risk and compliance systems, processes and reporting

 

What’s important to us?

  • Qualified lawyer with NZ practising certificate
  • 2 to 4 years legal experience gained in private practice or in-house
  • Sound communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and succinctly
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make decisions with confidence
  • An approachable, positive and enthusiastic style
