Taupō District Council is looking for a qualified solicitor with experience in property and/or commercial law. Experience with local government would be a real advantage.
You will support the Corporate Solicitor through the delivery of high-quality legal advice to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements to manage risk to the organisation. You will get to be involved in some interesting work supporting teams across the organisation, with a particular focus on property and iwi co-governance related legal matters.
Our ideal candidate will have great judgement, attention to detail, and be committed to seeing things through to completion. You will be a skilled communicator who can build effective professional relationships with a wide range of customers.

Job Description/Duties: As annexed
Term of Appointment: If accepted by the Appointee, as per Taupo District Council’s Officer’s Collective Employment Agreement. A continuous position.
Days/Hours of Work: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8.00am and 5.00pm. Allowance for 1 hour unpaid lunch break, plus two paid 10 minute tea breaks. Flexible working arrangements may be able to be negotiated.
Remuneration: Salary in the region of $80,000.00 per annum depending on qualifications, knowledge and experience of the successful applicant
Annual Holidays: Four weeks paid leave on the completion of twelve months service in addition to statutory holidays [or 8% gross taxable income]
Three days special leave between Christmas and New Year.
25 days annual leave (inclusive of special leave) accrues after three years service
28 days annual leave (inclusive of special leave) accrues after five years service
Sick Leave: As per TDC sick leave policy.
Other Conditions: Negotiable upon appointment.
